Getting to Beckets Barn

The barn is in a beautiful and quiet location and is not directly served by public transport. A car is advisable, although the area is perfect for cycling and walking.
The nearest rail station is Appledore, just over three miles away and is on the Southern Rail network which serves Ashford and the south coast, with stops at Rye, Hastings and Eastbourne and on to Brighton. The train to/from Ashford International takes 10 minutes and there are high-speed trains from Ashford to London St Pancras which take 39 minutes. There is limited parking at the station.

The nearest village is Appledore, about 2.5 miles away. The walk there takes about half an hour but the ground is flat. A lovely cafe – Miss Mollett’s High Class Tea Room – is open everyday. There is also the Black Lion public house that has an extensive restaurant menu, www.blacklion-pub.com 01233 758206. Appledore Village Stores is open from 6.00am to 7.30pm, sells everything and has a post office.
Access to the barn is through electric gates. Press the call button to enter. A code will be given to you when you check in. Drive over the gravel driveway to your covered designated parking space that is on the right hand side of the open bay garage and has a flat concrete surface. We will meet you there to show you to your suite. Entrance to the barn is through a wooden door that is 1650mm wide. There is a short walk to your suite along a mostly covered flat path and is at its narrowest point 908mm wide. Your front door is up a small step 230mm high. The width of the main door to the suite is 850mm wide. The suite is open plan and on one level. Double doors to the patio are 1590mm wide and have a small step down to the patio 110mm high but is then on one level. The en-suite wet room is accessed through a sliding door that is 720mm wide and is on one level.
There is a fire door leading through to the home gym that is 1040mm wide and there is a small threshold. The gym is on one level. As we have to comply with health and safety legislation we will have to ask guests to sign a disclaimer that they are fit to use the gym. We can give instructions on use of the apparatus if required. There is an alarm in case of emergency.
There is a locked fire door to the indoor swimming pool that is 710mm wide. The changing room/toilet and shower room is on one level, the door is 710mm wide. The tiled swimming pool area is also on one level. Access to the swimming pool is down nine steps and there is a hand rail. The seventeen metre swimming pool has a constant depth of around 1.3 metres, therefore jumping in, diving and bombing is strictly forbidden. The pool is chlorinated and is heated to approximately 28 degrees which is perfect for swimming lengths. There is no lifeguard on duty. Due to health and safety legislation we restrict the use of the pool to certain times during the day and when we are on site. There is an alarm in case of emergency.
Breakfast is served in the main barn. There is a pathway with stepping stones over gravel to the dining hall which has an entrance of 1540mm wide. There are three small steps along the path measuring 50mm, 100mm, 100mm and 140mm. There is a small threshold into the dining hall 90mm high. There is an alternative but longer way to the dining hall along a flat path with two small steps to negotiate 125mm and 100mm high. The dining hall is large and on one level.
Due to the large koi carp pond and swimming pool, the barn isn’t suitable for children.
